What Kind of Waterfowl Hunting on Lake Erie are You Interested In?
We offer duck hunting options for a wide variety of species, including divers and puddlers, depending on the migration. We hunt out of a large Duckwater for boat and shore hunts.
This is for hardcore waterfowlers seeking specific and unique duck species to add to their list. This is a low-volume hunts with all focus on a prime drake species you're after.
Our goose hunts are available from mid-January into early February. We hunt out of a Duckwater boat for specifically Canada geese. Huge migration, little pressure on Lake Erie!

The Lake Erie Island and Maumee Bay regions have a very deep history in waterfowl hunting. This region sits right in the middle of the Mississippi and Atlantic flyways making it a prime area for many ducks to rest on the migration south. The oldest still operating duck hunting club in existence (Winous Point Shooting Club) is located just east of Toledo on the Sandusky Bay.
In September, early teal and goose season opens up for two weeks to allow hunting of the early migrating blue wing teal and resident Canada geese.
In October, big duck season opens up where you can very likely take a mixed bag of mallards, gadwall, teal, wood duck, wigeon and pintails. Diver duck hunting trips on the open water can be be some of the most exciting trips.

Lake Erie Duck Hunts
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH OUR WATERFOWL HUNTS?
We will be hunting out of our 25’ Duckwater boat with a full blind. We also have a 24' custom built Gatortrax with a blind.
On a normal day, we will meet you at the ramp around 5am, exact time and location will be conveyed the day prior as it changes often for wind, and where we found birds the night before. We will get you loaded up, and we will head out. Some locations we hunt may be rock walls on the shores of lake Erie or we may go off shore to an island complex up to 15 miles offshore.
Lake conditions can become rough, if you have ever experienced sea sickness before then I would recommend taking some Dramamine prior. We may take spray in the choppy conditions on our way out, but do not worry as just like the birds we will be hunting on the lee side of an island or break-wall in the calm water.
WHAT MAKES OUR DUCK HUNTS UNIQUE?
Our style of hunting is boat blinds along the shores and islands of lake Erie. This is very much an ocean style hunt where you can expect to be faced with trying weather condition and off shore hunting opportunities.
We harvest a wide variety of birds on these hunt. Most commonly harvested are Greater & less blue bills Common goldeneye Bufflehead Common & red breasted mergansers. (We actually have the largest population in the US). We offer trophy hunts for collectors taking part in the hunt 41 challenge. Please ask for specific details!
We do harvest a fair amount of:

- Widgeon
- Gadwall,

- Hooded Mergansers
- Spoonbills
- Ringnecks
- Woodducks
- Canvasbacks
- Redheads
- Black ducks
- Mallards
- Long tails
- Scoters
- And geese
These are not daily birds harvested but we do harvest them weekly.
DUCK HUNT PRICING ON LAKE ERIE
1 - 4 guys: $1500
5 guys: $1875
6 guys: $2250
Minimum of 4 people, with a max of 6 on the Duckwater. This is non-specific species hunt. If larger groups would like to book we can accommodate up to 10 but will be split onto two vessels.
98% of the time we hunt out of the Duckwater boat. We are tied up to some type of shoreline for back drop, dike walls, creek points, islands etc.
Only time we get out of the boat is if the water is too low to get up to shore with the boat. Rare, but with a strong westerly it can happen.
** $500 deposit holds the date and is non refundable. If the trip is cancelled due to weather, a new date will be selected.
Hunt 41 Waterfowl Collector’s Package
The Hunt 41 Waterfowl Collector’s Package is designed specifically for dedicated waterfowl collectors seeking to harvest specific North American diving duck species for their personal collections. These are low-volume, highly focused hunts that prioritize species selection, quality drakes, and a true collector experience rather than high daily bird numbers.
This package is offered on a limited basis during November and December, with extremely limited availability.
TARGET DUCK SPECIES
Hunters must select their target species at the time of booking.
Available species include:
- Common Goldeneye
- Greater Scaup (Bluebill)
- Lesser Scaup (Bluebill)
- Common Merganser
- Red-breasted Merganser
- Bufflehead
HUNT STRUCTURE
- 3-day minimum collector hunt package
- Hunters may select up to three (3) target species with the 3-day package
- Additional hunt days may be added at the time of booking to extend your trip
- 4-day or longer hunts allow hunters to target one additional species (up to four total)
Each hunt is carefully planned around seasonal migration, weather conditions, and species-specific behavior to maximize opportunities at harvesting a mature, trophy-quality drake of your selected species.

Goose Hunts on Lake Erie
Late Season Canada Goose Hunting Out of Boats
Our Canada goose hunts on Lake Erie are unique. When the weather gets cold, large volumes of Canada geese roost on the lake. On top of that, the hunting pressure is light, so the geese tend to play nicer.

These hunts are 100% dependent on whether or not the lake is open. If ice conditions hinder our hunt from taking place, they may be rescheduled or adjusted.

****We make all weather cancellations the morning of the hunt, if we cancel your hunt we will reschedule you for the following season or you may choose from available dates for the current season. It is the captain's right to cancel your hunt for weather or safety concerns at any time during the hunt as the client's safety is our number one priority. If this occurs a reschedule is not eligible once the boat is taken off the trailer. Hunters are responsible for their birds and being properly licensed upon showing up for the hunt.****
