Lake Erie Fishing Report — Walleye Biting Consistently

Quick summary: Positive notes this week on Lake Erie. Walleyes biting consistently. Working spreads of crankbaits in 25–30 ft of water, slowing down for limit fish in the afternoons.

Conditions

Solid fishing all week. Water temps in the high 50s, winds light most days. The lake is in classic mid-May walleye mode — not crazy hot, not too cold, just consistent.

What’s working

Where

Western basin from West Sister Island toward Pelee. Fish are spread but concentrated around the deeper structure. We’ve been running 6–8 lines on planer boards, two downriggers handling the deeper presentations.

Looking ahead

Spring transition is starting to show. Water temps will likely cross 60°F this week, which usually triggers the move from crankbaits to spoons and harnesses. By next weekend the bait pattern could change entirely.
